Class/ Self Evaluation
A. What i loved about this class was number one, My favorite teacher in the whole world Mr. Haymore he's the absolute best. Every time I talk to him one on one, it feels like I'm talking to an actual celebrity. I also loved writing my 100+ goals each time we met.
B. I improved in class by reading my life planning goals more often.
C. I loved this class so much I wouldn't change anything about it.

Six ways to make People Like you. If you want people to like you...

Rule 1: Become genuinely interested in other people.

"Do this and you will be welcome anywhere."
"You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you."
"Ask questions to other people, questions they would enjoy answering."

To start off I don't care if some people don't like me I only care what certain people think about me. I don't like having more friends because I'm very picky about who I want in my life and who I don't. But I would say I'm interested in getting to know some people though it is rare. I don't want to become friends with someone because of how they look, I like to be friends with someone who likes what I like or someone who can make me laugh. If I observe someone and see they have what I'm looking for in a friend then I will talk to them try to get to know them and make them my friend, otherwise I don't care.

Rule 2: Smile
"Actions speak louder than words, and a smile says, "I like you. You make me happy. I am glad to see you.
"You don't feel like smiling? Then force yourself to smile."
"It creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in a business, and is the countersign (witness or indication) of friends."

I think a smile has a lot of meaning. I agree smiling is good to do around friends. It shows that you feel happy to be around them. I don't agree with forcing yourself to smile though. Sometimes you just have one of those days when you're not feeling okay or people tried to bring you down, so you don't feel like smiling and that should be perfectly fine with your friends. They can try to comfort you, sometimes it helps. They should also respect your privacy if you don't want to talk about your issues. Your friends can also try to make you smile to make you feel better. Not smiling around them when you're feeling down is okay, you don't always have to smile.

Rule 3: Remember names
"A man's name is to him the sweetest and most important sound in any language."
"If you don't remember names, you are headed for trouble."

I think remembering names is very important if you want someone to like you. I have a really good memory so it isn't hard for me to remember names at all. I totally still remember names of people from my elementary and middle school, and I'll remember every one of them. That's just how good I am. I bet when I graduate high school, I'm still going to remember the names of all the people I met here.

How to remember names:

  • Examine their faces as much as you can, try to find an unusual feature
  • When you introduce each other ask them to repeat their name more than once
Maybe rewind the conversation you had with that person in your head when you guys first met.

Rule 4: Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves.
"If you aspire to be a good conversationalist, be an attentive listener."
"Remember that the man you are talking to is a hundred times more interested in himself and his wants and his problems than he is in you and your problems."

Personally, I think I'm a great listener. I'm always there to listen to my friends and others talk about their problems. I never say a single word, interrupt them, or look away when they're talking to me about something. Even If I'm not interested at all in anything they have to say I will still sit there quietly listening to them talk and paying attention. I feel like that might be why most people like me or think I'm nice because of my listening skills. Sometimes though, I wish they were just as good listeners with me as I am with them when I talk but whatever, it's fine.

Five steps for Active Listening:
1. Stay Focused: keep natural eye contact, don't judge, and be patient.
2. Really Listen: Don't think about your similar experiences and what you should tell next.
3. Allow for periods of silence: Wait until the other person speaks again.
4. From time to time, repeat the other person's words and paraphrase it back to them.
5. Understand the emotions behind the words.

Rule 5: Talk in terms of the other man's interest.
"The royal road to a man's heart is to talk to him about the things he treasures most."

I am the type of person that only socializes with people that share the same interests as me. You have to at least share one thing in common with me or we can't be friends, like at all. Not even acquaintances. And the first thing is mention when I start a conversation with a friend, it's about the same things we like because then that way we can laugh and have a great time.

Rule 6: Make the other person feel important--and do it sincerely.
"The desire to be important is the deepest urge in human nature." (John Dewey) "Helping people feel important and appreciated works magic."

I feel like I've always been very encouraging about a person feeling good about themselves. I know I have the ability to make someone feel important and special. I personally think I'm really good at giving compliments to others and making them believe me. Or when they're talking to me about something I can make them feel like they're the only person in the room that I'm talking to.

Reflection: My deepest thoughts and feelings about the six ways to make people like you is that most are accurate and I already do some of the six ways so that should describe why people like me. I will commit to applying to the six rules by continuing to follow them and getting better with each rule as time passes.

                         Glenn Cunningham

I think Glen had a lot of heart for what happened to him. His legs burned in an explosion at the age of 7, the people at the hospital said he would never walk again. He would hear people tell his mother that they thought he would never walk again too. Despite what they said and what he heard, he decided to not give up, he'd say he would walk again when ever he'd lose courage. I really admire that because I know that if i had been in that accident and they told me the same thing I would lose all hope forever. I would probably kill myself because I would see no point in living anymore. He was determined to walk again and he did, he ended up getting married, and having 10 children, doctor and Olympian, so he succeeded in life after being told he should give up. Glenn is a true inspiration to so many people in the world.

The six attitudes of High Achievers

1. Make no small plans

The reason why we should not make small plans is because that way we have more space to make big plans. I also think that maybe small plans could be a waste of time. Why make small plans when you can think big? It is much better to think outside the box rather than the inside. In a way it helps making choices easier. When you make bigger plans it is a chance to become successful. Someone who makes no or little plans is most likely to not go very far. Oh and it helps us determine our future. I actually already apply to this attitude. Everyday I think about how I want to be someone important in life. I plan on meeting and working with all the people that have inspired me to become who I am today. I never stop planning on how I am going to marry my favorite singer some day. Obama made no small plans because he legalized gay marriage in all 50 states.

2. Do what they fear

I think do what they fear means that most things that people are afraid to do are what you should be doing. To prove that you are not afraid and that you can do things better.

3. Are willing to prepare

This means that you have to be prepared for things if you want to do them. You have to have an idea of what you want to do in order to do it right when you're ready to do it. Preparing is always the best thing to do in any case. I know that for my future I want to be a filmmaker and in some ways i have prepared. I have always created videos with my cousins whether they were funny, scary, or us lip singing to songs and I direct them so I think I'm a step ahead.

5. Are teachable

I think it's very important to be teachable in so many ways. For one, it's important to be teachable school-wise. You have to be able to comprehend and be capable of understanding, it also makes a teacher's job much easier. The other way that is important to be teachable is just life in general. I am actually willing to try new things that I have never tried and be actually good at those things.

6. Have Heart

I think having heart means so many things. For one, it's being sensitive to others. If a friend is talking to you about a problem or a story, having a heart would mean that you would listen attentively to what they're saying and you'd be comforting and giving feedback. Another example of having heart would be having sympathy when someone is in need, everybody wants to hang around someone sympathetic.

Reflection: Through out the time I've talked about the six attitudes of high achievers I have reflected a lot about my self. I have never made no small plans and have always motivated myself in never doing so especially when I like boys I always have my hopes up and think something will happen so I should work on lowering my expectations. Something I don't do is do what everyone fears so I should work on that. I am always willing to prepare so I don't need help on that. And I am definitely teachable and open to trying new things.
I know that I also have heart, always have and it will continue to be that way.

Way to Be
9 Ways to be Happy and make something of your Life

                                                                   Gordon B. Hickley

1. Be Grateful
“Let us be grateful to the people who make us

happy, they are the charming gardeners who

make our souls blossom."

Being grateful is important because when you have someone or something to make you smile and give you joy, you need to appreciate the people that make you happy when you can't make yourself happy. For example I am so grateful for all the people who I look up to such as my favorite singers and youtubers because they motivate me to live life to the fullest and they bring me right back up when I'm feeling down or I'm at my worst moments.

2. Be Smart
Diy pictures sayings about inspirational - Be smart, be intelligent and be informed.
I definitely think being smart can make you happy because if you are smart and educated you feel secure and proud to be intelligent because you can answer other people's questions and you will never be lacking knowledge unlike others.

3. Be involved in Good Works

It is important to be involved in good works because you don't want to waste your time doing things that are not important and use your time on something that is actually going to help you and be useful of your time

4. Be Clean

I think being clean is not only about hygiene but also yourself as a person being clean, like being organized, and clear of guilt. For example you are clean if you have done nothing that you regret and you are clean if you don't feel like anything is missing in your life. Overall, being clean means you are more likely to be happy with yourself and your surroundings too.

5. Be True

Being true is very important in a person because if you can't be true to yourself and what you believe in then you are living a lie.

6. Be Positive

Being positive is such an important part of life because what's the point of living if you can't be happy? Life is way too short to think negatively. Instead of being sad and bored all the time, you should do things you like and enjoy. Or try something new that you're interested in. You never really know where you might find happiness and positiveness. Don't hang out with negative people because that may be what's bringing you down. Listen to happy music. Laugh about the funny things. Dance and have fun. These will help you keep a positive attitude.

7. Be Humble

Being humble is a great quality because when you are too arrogant and self-absorbed, most people actually look down on you instead of looking up at you. I have always been insecure whether it is about my looks, intelligence, or victories. If I got a good result on a test and someone compliments me on it I would say thank you but I hardly studied. That is usually the truth but I'm lowering my own standards because the test could have been corrected wrong. I wouldn't want to seem like I'm bragging either because chances are I did not study and I just got lucky at guessing. Or if you achieved something important you should be grateful not go around telling people how great you are. Stay humble. .

8. Be Still

I would say being still means being in a conscious state of mind where nothing distracts you from your own thoughts. What if you are in a dangerous situation like a robbery or shooting or something? The best thing to do would be stay still, calm, and relaxed and figure out exactly what you're going to plan to do.

9. Be Prayerful

Reflection: I think that these 9 ways to be happy and make something of my life were very helpful and useful to write about. My deepest thoughts and feelings about these have grown since I started writing about the nine ways like I actually think about it at night and how I'm going to get better in each way. I am going to be grateful by appreciating the things and friends I have. I'm also going to stay grateful by continuing to support my idols in the work that they make for us and buying their things because they always put a smile on my face.

                              Commitment

Commitment is being dedicated to a cause, keeping a promise, or the loyalty you keep to someone or something.

I believe in order to make a strong commitment you have to be loyal and really mean it because if you don't you're going to fail, break your promise and that's going to affect others, not just you.

                                 Obedience

"The key to freedom is obedience. The more obedient we are, the more freedom we have."

When there is obedience, you follow the right rules and that leads you to so many things, so it leads you to the right path and that path is freedom.

                                   A Smile

"We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do."

This means that a smile can do many things, for example if someone has a bad day it can make them happy or when you find a person you can fall in love with their smile.

                                   Loyalty

Loyalty is the act of being loyal to someone or something, also a strong act of supporting another.

Loyalty is something important that we all seek for in a friend or significant other. If there isn't loyalty in a friendship or relationship it won't work out. I usually look for a friend that will be there to help me when I need them or a shoulder to cry on. Someone that will never talk behind my back. Someone who if they overhear someone talking wrong about me, they will stand up for me. Someone who won't pretend to not know who I am if we see each other outside of class.

                  Decisions determine Destiny

Each decision we make leads us closer to our destiny. Whether it is a good one or a bad one. If one morning I decide what career path I want to take (which I already know) it is going to determine my future or destiny.

                                   Caring

Caring is like showing kindness and concern for others, also looking out for others.

I think caring about others actually does take a lot from you. There are certain people in your life that you care for and sometimes you tend to care more for them then care about yourself first and that's not how it should be.

                                 Boldness

Boldness is not hesitating or being fearful in the face of actual or possible danger, courageous and daring.

I agree that if there is something that you have ever dreamed of doing and you know that you are bold enough to actually accomplish it then I think you should do it. Boldness definitely takes power.

                                  Attitude

Attitude is the way of thinking or feeling about someone or something.

"Our attitude towards others determines their attitude towards us."

I definitely think the kind of attitude we give others is the same attitude we'll get back from them. If we're nice we might receive nice back. If we give mean or inappropriate attitude then we'll get something like that back.

                       Personal Development

Personal development is a way for people to assess their skills and qualities, consider their aims in life and set goals in order to realize and maximize their potential.

This quote means that that to better yourself you should focus on you and not on others because whatever you are changing or bettering is for yourself and not anyone else. For example, if you were practicing at doing something at first you didn't succeed, then you have tomorrow to become better at it. This quote relates to my 100+ Life Planning Goals because a lot of my goals are about changing myself and getting better at skills I want to have and also my appearance.

Tuesday, August 25, 2015

                              Assertiveness

Assertiveness is being self-assured and confident.

I think it's true that assertiveness is a good quality to have because we all want to be confident in ourselves and have a high self-esteem but we don't want to be too conceited and put others down. We need just the right amount of confidence and I think that's what assertiveness is.

                                Life Goals
1. Go to KFC
2. Go to pollo loco
3. Go to Yogurt Land
4. Go to VidCon
5. Go to City Walk
6. Go to Cheesecake Factory

                             Accountablilty

Accountability is liability, and the act of being responsible.

“If you think someone or something other than

yourself is responsible for your happiness or

success, I'd guess you're not that happy or
successful.”  - Rob Liano
Image result for “If you think someone or something other than yourself is responsible for your happiness or success, I'd guess you're not that happy or successful.”

I agree with this quote because you are always responsible for your own happiness and success therefore you're accountable for the actions you had to have done to be in the certain place that you are in.

                               Final: Part 1

1. The things I liked about this class were our student success statements, our quotes, and that we could reflect on these statements. I also liked that we had a life planning book that way we were more organized with our goals. My favorite thing about this class is Mr. Haymore. He is such a great role model and one of my favorite people. I will really miss him and hope I will still get to see him and I would like to be a T.A. for his class.

2. Things that I did not like about this class were two specific students that I really hate. Walking into the classroom and seeing them both always made me angry and put me in a very depressing mood.

3. I don't really have anything to recommend for this class because I already think it is a perfect class and needs nothing changed.

4. I believe I always did my best in this class despite the things that were happening around me.

5. I try to read my life planning 100+ goals daily for at least two minutes whenever I find time during my day.

6. I am very committed to being a CTR person because this class has taught me so much and I feel like everything that I've learned here I can use to become more of a CTR person and to always choose the right.

7. What I will always remember about this class is how we would always read our goals for two minutes and Mr. Haymore of course. He has become an important part in my life and I will always remember him. I don't think I will ever forget about him.

                   Student Success Statement

The Ultimate Choice
Of all the choices you will ever make, one choice supersedes all others-the ultimate choice. This one choice will help you to always make correct decisions. This one choice, The Ultimate Choice, is your keystone to being the best student and person you can possibly be. This one choice will forever affect you for good more than any other choice.THE ULTIMATE CHOICE is:

To be a CTR Person- to Always CHOOSE THE RIGHT!!!

Reflecting on this whole year, I'd say that I have gotten better at choosing the right. There are many moments that I am not proud of. At some points I was ready to choose the wrong for completely and all the way. To think and look back at what I would have done makes me feel ashamed and sick on the inside. I feel grateful for the friends I had during that experience that stopped me from choosing the wrong. I know I would have regretted it so much. Like the way I regret it now that I was stupid enough to lay eyes on someone who never cared for my feelings. I am so over that and happy that I chose to do the right thing and I can live peacefully knowing that I'm a CTR person because of my decision.

                   Student Success Statement

"Success is not an accident. Success is actually a choice. Are the habits you have today on par with the dreams you have tomorrow?"

I believe it is true that success doesn't just happen out of nowhere by luck or by accident. Because success is a choice, you work hard to reach it.

                   Student Success Statement

"A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder."

If a ship doesn't have a rudder then it has no direction, therefore it has no purpose. This is a perfect example of a man without a goal. If we don't set our own goals then it is obvious that we really won't know where to go and not knowing will lead to nothing and nowhere. That is what will become of our lives if we don't set our goals.

                    Student Success Statement

If there is beauty in character, there will be harmony in the home. If there is harmony in the home, there will be order in the nation. If there is order in the nation, there will be peace in the world.
Conclusion: If there is beauty in character, there will be peace in the world.
                           Chinese Proverb

I do agree with this proverb because beauty and harmony combine well with each other. I don't think there could be one without the other. The same goes for order and peace. There wouldn't be any peace without order. Wherever there is beauty there will be peace.
                 "The Six Pillars of Character"

The six pillars are: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship

1. Trustworthiness is Be honest, Don’t deceive, cheat, or steal, Be reliable, do what you say you’ll do, Have the courage to do the right thing, Build a good reputation, Be loyal, stand by your family, friends

2. Respect is Use good manners, not bad language, Deal

peacefully with anger, insults, and disagreements.

3. Responsibility is Do what you are supposed to do, Plan ahead, keep on trying! Always do your best, Be self-disciplined  Think before you act consider the consequences.

4. Fairness is Play by the rules, Take turns and share, Be open-minded; listen to others,  Don’t take advantage of others, Don’t blame others carelessly, Treat all people fairly

5. Caring is Be kind, Be compassionate and show you care, Express gratitude

6. Citizenship is Do your share to make your school and community better, Cooperate, Get involved in community affairs, Be a good neighbor,  Obey laws and rules, Respect authority , Protect the environment, Volunteer

Personally I think that all these pillars should be followed and I think it would help us communicate in a better way if we all followed these rules.

                    Student Success Statement

"I would prefer even to fail with honor than win                                  by cheating."

                                                                        Sophocles

I agree that some of us would rather fail with honor than to win by cheating. I think that even if you win but you do it effortlessly because you decide to cheat then it doesn't mean much. But if you fail even after how hard you tried then you failed with honor and that's better than anything.

                           "Memorial Day"

Memorial day is a holiday in the United States for

remembering the people who died while serving

in the country's armed forces. The purpose of

memorial day is to honor our dead. Memorial day

is on May 25. On memorial Day lots of people

visit cemeteries and memorials. It is also

traditional to fly the flag of the United States at

half-mast from dawn until noon.

"The most important thing you will ever have is                                good values."

                                                                           Dennis Prager

I believe this is a very important statement because good values are what define you. Without good values what would be so important about you like what would you live by. I think good values help keep you in line and stable. What you feel is very different from the values of reality. You can't have many things that complete your happiness if you don't treasure your values. Sometimes you have to remember that it isn't always about how you feel it is also about valuing the life that surrounds you.

"Nothing is ever gained in doing what's wrong."

                                                                      Wilford Woodruff

It is true that you gain absolutely nothing when you only do wrong. If everything you do is wrong then you're never going to have a career, have genuine friends, find a soul-mate, or have a family. Drugs, harassment, lying, stealing, and violence will never gain you anything so you'll never be anything in life but trash.

These services would benefit me because if my mom were to learn more English, it would be easier for us to communicate.

I think my mom would like to access my grades and attendance that way she's always on the know for my grades.

Summary: Forgiveness

A convict named Eric Smallridge was found guilty of DUI Manslaughter. While driving at twice the

legal limit for alcohol, he hit a car carrying Lisa

Dickson and Meagan Napier. He killed both girls

at the age of 20 years old. He was supposed to be

held at prison for 22 years but Meagan's mother

forgave the convict and he was let go. That was

very nice of Meagan's mother Renee but I know

that I wouldn't do that for sure. I know what it's

like to lose a loved one and If anything I would

make the person that was the cause of their death

pay for what they have made me lose.

"When a deep injury is done to us, we never                         recover until we forgive."

                                                                       Alan Platon

I don't agree with this quote at all. I agree if it were a simple mistake but if it's a deep injury, something that has caused you to feel pain and made you cry then i don't think forgiveness should be allowed in the situation. I have had so many people do things to me that I will never ever forgive because If I did I would allow myself to get hurt again and the whole point is to stay away from pain. For example I will never forgive the boys and girls that bullied me during elementary and middle school. I will never forgive the girl that claimed to be my best friend and would flirt with my crush and ended up kissing him. I will never forgive that same douche-bag who put me through so much pain with all the things he did to me and how much he made me cry. He is a horrible person whom I will never give my pity to ever again. He should be ashamed and he makes me feel disgusted. I will never forgive him.

                     Student Success Statement

                      "Dare to stand alone."

                                                                       Thomas S. Monson

I think that you sometimes do have to stand alone because people are not always going to have the same opinion as you and their opinion may be the wrong choice while your opinion is the right choice. And you might want to stand alone instead of go with them because there's a possibility that they will lead you down the wrong path.

                            BookCon 2015
Book con is an event that I've been wanting to go to since March. Book con is when fans get to interact and ask questions to the Authors of popular books, autographing sessions,
storytelling, pod casts, special screenings, literary quiz shows and so much more.  Unfortunately, it will be held in NYC. I don't have the money to go all the way over there. I really wish I was able to go I mean I would do anything to get the money I need to travel there and then travel back home. It is also on a Sunday which would put me in a tough place because the next day is a school day. If I had the opportunity to go to book con this year I would go to the panel on Sunday May 31st called "Vlogger to Author." In that panel will be some of my favorite youtubers such as Joey Graceffa, Shane Dawson, and Connor Franta, talking about their memoirs. Sadly I will not get that chance and I'll have to wait for another opportunity to meet my idols.

"In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing."

                                                                  Theodore Roosevelt

I think sometimes this statement is true and other times it is not. For example, if your friend is being picked on by someone and you happen to be there, it isn't the right thing, but you may want to punch that person and it is something out of nature.
                Life Planning Progress Report

I have around 50 goals in my life planning notebook and have only achieved 3 victories. Many of the goals written down on paper, I have not been able to achieve because those are goals that I'm going to have to wait until I'm older to accomplish. I am absolutely certain that I have 100+ goals in my head that have not been put down on paper still. The reason is because i have just been feeling very negative lately and i don't have enough strength to pick up a pen and list all of them so far. I have been reading them though and it's depressing that i don't have many victories like i should. I think it's going to be even harder to pick up enough strength to write more because one of my best friends recently passed away and many of my goals involved him.

Summary

There needs to be more people like Dr. Bob in this world, I mean seriously. Dr. Bob uses his salary to pay for his patients' needs. He doesn't just give them the prescription he gives them a check to pay for it. He provides a lot of non-medical care. He takes absolutely no salary. He survives mostly on donations and even when people give him money for him he puts it right back into practice. Every penny he makes always finds a way to make it back to his patient. I think he is such a successful doctor and if a patient is treated by him they are very lucky.

                   Student Success Statement

"Make each day your masterpiece. You have to apply yourself each day to become a little better, and over a period of time you become a lot better."

                                                                         John Wooden

This means that you got to work hard for it every day. You have to push yourself to get better each day so that eventually you'll become an expert at whatever you're aiming for. It's like cooking, if you try to cook the same thing each day and put effort into it, you may finally end up with something that someone may think was made by an actual chef. Or reading, if you read everyday constantly, you will end up reading at such a high speed/level that you never thought would be possible.
